Jump! awarded a 2009 Theatre Bay Area CA$H Grant

It’s old news by now, but we wanted to let you know that Jump! was awarded a 2009 Theatre CA$H Grant from Theatre Bay Area. We’re honored! We’ll be using this grant to produce Liz Gjelten’s new play, Hunter’s Point, a play about fierce love and bicycles that asks: What is ‘moral treatment’ of the homeless mentally ill, and what prevents our society from providing it? True to Jump!’s aesthetic, the play will layer music and video projections to create a multi-media theatre experience that’s deeply rooted in our hometown of San Francisco.

What better way to celebrate than to gather together and drink a toast at a local watering hole? Here’s the crowd:

We’re looking forward to a reading of the current Hunter’s Point script on April 25, 2010 as part of Springboard V.

JUMP! Theatre is proud to introduce our new Producing Artistic Director, Roberta D’Alois!  Roberta took the reins in fall 2009 from co‐founders Rebecca Longworth and Nena St. Louis, both of whom continue to be involved in the company.

Roberta D'Alois

Welcome, Roberta!

Ms. D’Alois is a San Francisco‐based monologist, playwright and director who directed Saint for JUMP! in May 2008. She has a B.A in Theatre from Brandeis University and an M.A. in Psychology from J. F. K. University in Orinda, CA. Her most recent play, “Rapture Makes Perfect” a fantasia on the 2008 Presidential election, was awarded a development grant from the International Centre for Woman Playwrights and received an honorable mention in the 2009 Bay Area Playwrights Showcase. She is a proud Member of Theatre Bay Area and the Dramatists’ Guild. With her decades’ long involvement with Bay Area theatre, we’re confident Roberta will help bring the company to greater prominence as we continue our work.
